Boston's story: Thin, frightened but always full of love
Boston arrived in our care last year in shocking condition. He was dangerously malnourished and visibly emaciated. But despite his difficult past, he immediately loved and trusted his kennel carers.
From the start, Boston welcomed cuddles, treats and playtime from the people he trusted – his suffering had not dampened his love for life.
Once he started eating a specialised diet, Boston grew stronger.
When an animal is as thin as Boston was when we first met him, they need to be fed carefully to avoid upset tummies. Boston was put on a specialised diet to help him safely gain weight and strength, and his eating was monitored.
He started to grow stronger, but he wasn’t in the clear yet, and we began to suspect a possible issue with his joints. Boston was sent for X-rays and other exploratory procedures, which thankfully came back clear.
He was ready to run and play as much as his little heart desired!
Boston is not free from fear, however.
Boston has always been happy to see his kennel carers but he was unsure of his surroundings and nervous to go on walks once he was strong enough to get out and about. He was especially scared of new people and other dogs.
His ‘kennel mum’, Emma, shared, ‘Boston’s a really sweet boy, he loves to cuddle on the sofa and will sit right on top of you for pets, but equally loves a zoom around the paddock with a soft toy.
At first he was quite shy, he came in very skinny and malnourished, but he has since put on some weight and come out of his shell, he’s happy to say hello to everyone and get all the attention he can! He will never say no to a treat.’
Boston’s no longer the frightened, malnourished pup we first met.
With some proper food, veterinary care and plenty of love and cuddles from the Animal Welfare Team, Boston is ready to find his forever home.
Boston is confident, playful and determined not to let his past define him.
This boy has such a love for life, help him find a home where he can flourish!
