Memory Tree

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear.” – Unknown

Saying a final goodbye to your beloved pet is devastating, no matter the age, time or circumstance. Their unconditional love can’t be replaced and can leave a big hole in your heart.

At the Home, we celebrate and remember the dogs and cats who have touched our lives with two memory tree sculptures situated by our offices in Leo’s garden. Whether they have lost a pet or sadly had to surrender them, supporters can purchase a leaf engraved with their pet’s name and support the animals in our care at the same time.

What do I get in return?

Our two hand-sculpted memory trees were funded by the Tesco Bags of Help initiative, and both have 115 leaves for the names of pets who have sadly passed. The leaf you purchase will hold your loved one’s name for one year. It can take up to two weeks for this to be installed but once it is there it will remain on our tree for everyone to see for a year. After which you can decide to renew your sponsorship.

These funds go towards fulfilling our mission to protect loving homes, find loving homes and run a loving Home for the dogs and cats who need us.

Remember the one that never left your side by dedicating a leaf to them on our memory trees. Not only are you celebrating the life you had with them, but you will also help other animals at our Home find their FURRever home.

What is Leo’s garden and who was Leo?

We opened Leo’s Garden in 2019 – a reflection garden which offers a private space to the public so they can remember the good times they shared with their beloved pet. Set within the grounds are our two beautifully crafted memory trees where patrons can dedicate a leaf in memory of their pet.

Leo the staffordshire bull terrier sitting and looking into the camera

Leo, a cross Staffordshire bull terrier,  was in our care for several years. He was one of our longest and most loved residents. Leo was a loveable boy who meant so much to us and he really did feel like part of the family.

Can I come down to see my leaf?

The memory trees can be found here at our Home and you’re welcome to visit yours. The entrance to Leo’s Garden is opposite reception and you are welcome to spend time.

We hope that no matter the reason for your visit, you can find some comfort and peace in this dedicated space.
