5 Winter dog walks in Edinburgh
Here are a few of our favourite dog walks in Edinburgh.
1. Inverleith Park
This 56-acre park just north of Stockbridge is a big favourite for local dog-lovers. With walking paths, a boating pond and plenty of green space, this is the perfect location for off-lead zoomies with well-behaved dogs.
More reactive dogs are welcome to enjoy their own off-lead zoomies in our dog paddocks for as little as £6!
2. Corstorphine Hill
For stunning views across the city and woodland trails, Corstorphine Hill is another firm local favourite.
The park is easily reached by bus or car, with a car park at the entrance on Clermiston Road North. This is a great route for dogs who love to sniff and explore, but beware that there may be deer around, so only let your dog off-lead if you’re confident in their recall skills!
3. Portobello Beach
We may be biased as it’s right by our offices… but this is one of our favourite dog walking spots in the city.
Our resident pups love to run and splash in the waves along the waterfront, which stretches all the way from the busier sections by the promenade and gets quieter as you head towards Seafield.
Expect to meet lots of friendly dogs on this route, so we wouldn’t recommend this one for reactive dogs.
4. Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill
If you’re looking for a slightly quieter alternative to Arthur’s Seat, check out the Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill for a woodland walk up to scenic views of the city.
Enjoy a peaceful wander along the Braid Burn, pop in to the Lodge Coffee House for a cosy drink, and head on up Blackford Hill to enjoy those fantastic views.
5. Cammo Estate
Cammo Estate is an 85-acre public country park run by the City of Edinburgh Council. It’s a perfect taste of the countryside near the city with meadowland, woodland, and the remains of the former estate, bordered on one side by the River Almond.
