Help give Maple a new start

Little Maple is sweeter than a Salted Maple Caramel Latte, but she’s had a difficult start to life. At just 8 weeks old, she is suffering from mange due to neglect.

Maple has been living with constant pain and the unbearable need to keep scratching at her sore skin.

She’s had a difficult start; after facing neglect in her short life she’s going to need help to heal and get ready to find her forever home.

As well as topical treatments and regular baths with medicated shampoo to help heal her mange, Maple will need additional care and consideration from our team to give her the best chance of a fresh start.

What is mange?

Sarcoptic mange or scabies is a skin disease caused by mites which can be highly infectious between dogs. It’s caused by microscopic mites burrowing into the skin and laying eggs. These eggs then hatch into larvae which will move about the dog’s body before developing into adult mites and reproducing to repeat the cycle.

Dogs affected by mange will experience itching and pain across affected areas. This is often worsened by intense scratching creating open wounds and secondary infections.

Thankfully, mange can be easily treated with spot-on treatment and medicated shampoos.

Although the mites that cause it are killed quickly with treatment, it can take time for skin and fur to fully heal and regrow.

Maple’s mange infection has resulted in painful irritation and hair loss. She’s very young to have been separated from her mother and sadly, due to the infectious nature of mange, she needs to be kept isolated while she receives treatment.

Our team are spending every moment they can with Maple, ensuring that as well as medicine, baths, and a nourishing diet, she is getting all the love and attention she needs to become a healthy, confident young pup.

For the price of a Starbucks Salted Maple Caramel Latter, you could help cover the cost of her care and give our sweet Maple another chance at life. Can you help?
