Mr. Biscuit’s story: From loneliness to love at last

Mr. Biscuits was skinny, scratched and scarred when he was picked up as a stray and arrived in our care earlier this year. He was terrified and found it hard to trust people after all he’d been through.

Mr. Biscuits had clearly been a stray for a long time. When he came to us, he was malnourished, battle-scarred and very scared.

It took a while for him to warm up to his kennel carers but with time and patience, the scratches on his face healed up and slowly he began to come out of his shell.

We learned that Mr. Biscuits does like cuddles and attention, but only on his terms!

At first, Mr. Biscuits could be grumpy and tended to avoid interacting with people. But after a little while it became clear that he was a playful wee softie on the inside.

When he was in the mood for affection, Mr Biscuits loved cuddles and playtime, but he could still be a little nippy the second he decided that enough was enough.

It took a long time for Mr Biscuits to find his right match.

When he was ready to find his home, we knew that Mr Biscuits was going to need a special family. His difficult past meant that he was slow to trust anyone and very protective of his own space.

We knew that he would need to find a home with someone who had lots of experience with cats and would be happy to let him go at his own pace. When Judith and her family applied to rehome him, we knew she was the one!

‘We came across Mr. Biscuit’s profile on the website, and he had such a lovely face. He looks like he wants to chat to you.’

Judith told us that they had rehomed their beloved cat Benji from the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home many years ago. ‘We had Benji for eight or nine years, he was so lovely’.

Mr. Biscuits has settled in with Judith’s family better than we could have ever hoped. From the very first night he was snuggling in on the sofa and his favourite spot to sleep is right in between Judith and her partner on the bed.

Mr. Biscuits makes our house feel like a home.’

Judith tells us that rehoming Mr Biscuits has changed her families’ lives. ‘He really helps us to be calm and be in the present. He’s always reminding us that there’s things more important than work. He’s just so loving and playful that he just kind of makes you stay in the moment.’

Mr. Biscuits is a different cat from the scared, beaten-up stray we first met.

Judith shares that he is incredibly social and loves to stay close and be around people. She added that during the rehoming process, she appreciated the care and attention the kennel team took to discuss Mr. Biscuit’s history and make sure he found the right match.

‘It was so nice to see how well he was cared for by kennel carers, and how much everybody loved him.’

Rehoming Mr. Biscuits has brought a sense of peaceful homeliness to Judith’s family.

‘He just makes our hearts melt when we come home and he’s looking out the window, it just brightens our day’
