Five simple ways to support Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home
As an organisation that relies solely on supporter donations, we’re always grateful for your financial support. But beyond money, there are so many ways you can help the dogs and cats in our care. Here are five simple ways you can support Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.
1. Spread the word
This is one of the easiest and most effective ways to support our work! For many Edinburgh locals, the Home needs no introduction. It’s been a constant presence on the waterfront and a backdrop to your lives. But for the thousands of new neighbours moving to the city every year, many people still haven’t met us yet.
Help us reintroduce ourselves to the city and meet our new neighbours by sharing our posts on social media or sharing your story of the Home. It might not seem like much, but we can’t emphasise enough how much a word of support from our valued community can help.
2. Donate items to our pet food banks
Our pet food banks feed around 4000 animals every month, providing a vital resource for families struggling to make ends meet. This regular support helps keep pets where they belong, with loving families, and prevents more animals from having to come to us.
The demand for pet food support is consistently high, and we always need donations of unopened pet food, treats, toys and other pet items. We’re always hugely grateful for any gifts; they can be dropped at our offices at 26 Seafield Road East, or at any of our donation stations across the city.

3. Take on a challenge
Fancy trying your hand at something new and supporting dogs and cats as you go? Throughout the year, we host a bunch of different sponsored challenges.
From abseils, to marathons, craft challenges and more, there are so many ways you can try something new in aid of dogs and cats in Scotland. Or set up your own fundraising challenge!

4. Support while you shop
Turn your everyday shopping into support for dogs and cats with easyfundraising.org.uk. Simply sign up to the platform, download their browser extension and shop online as you usually would.

5. Treat your dog to a run-free session in our dog parks!
Our dog parks are available to hire for as little as £6, and every penny goes straight to supporting our mission.
The biggest of our dog parks can accommodate up to six dogs at a time, with over an acre of grass, free professional agility equipment and stunning sea views. The smaller paddocks are perfect for up to three dogs with the same iconic sea views; you can even fill a paddling pool for a refreshing doggy dip on a warm sunny day!
