Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home Scoops Service Excellence Award

The Home has been honoured for its pet food bank work at the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, coming first in the Service Excellence category.

The ECC Business Awards took place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 9 March 2023, with the best of Edinburgh’s business world in attendance. It was no mean feat therefore, for Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home to make its presence known, which it did to roaring applause upon winning the Service Excellence Award.

The award honours the Home’s work with its pet food bank, which has growing its reach since 2019 – last year alone increasing food bank partnership from 48 to 84, and the number of pet meals provided to 328,550.

Pet owners were using food banks but using some of their allocated items, tuna or corned beef, to feed their pets. People should never have to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their pets, so the Home now works alongside existing food banks across East & Central Scotland to reach those who need the support most.

Speaking about the win, Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home CEO, Lindsay Fyffe-Jardine, said:

“This win is a win for all of us at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. This service wouldn’t run if it wasn’t for all the staff who sort through donations and pack them up, for those who answer the phones and engage so compassionately with those who seek out our support, for those who help us tell our story, for those who keep the engine running behind the scenes allowing the service to keep delivering and to those who help raise funds to keep our doors open. This is a team win for a group of amazingly talented people who pull together, play their bit and do it with compassion and hard work.”
