Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home and Buddy Bites: Exciting new partnership!

Our buddies at Buddy Bites have chosen Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home as their first UK partnership!

The Hong Kong based dog food brand have a mission to give back to the community and support dog shelters across the world.

They have pledged to give 1kg of their premium kibble to dogs in our care for every 2kg of food ordered in the UK, and they will donate any unused bags to our 81 food banks across East and Central Scotland.

2024 brought record-breaking pressures.

In the last year we took in nearly 400 dogs and cats, found new homes for 229 animals and distributed 44,960kg of pet food through pet foodbanks (this is more than the weight of a Boeing 737-800 airplane!).

At the same time, our running costs reached an all-time high.

Never more needed

Demand for support from our foodbanks continues to grow and Buddy Bites’ support will go a long way towards meeting this challenge and supporting dogs and families in need.

Buddy Bites is also offering a food bag to each dog adopted from us.

Alongside a month of insurance with our partners at PetPlan and a goody bag of other resources, dogs rehomed from us will be going home with a bag of Buddy Bites to help their new families get started.

Our CEO, Lindsay Fyffe-Jardine said, ‘For 140 years the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home has given pets a second chance at life, and it is all thanks to the generosity of communities and partnerships with organisations that our dogs and cats can live happy lives, filled with love and warmth.’

Chris Lee, Co-Founder of Buddy Bites explained why they wanted to partner with Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.

“My Co-Founder (Ryan) grew up in Edinburgh, so was already aware of the work that the Home do and supporting a shelter close to home was very appealing. When we came to visit Jamie and the team, we realised that it would be a fantastic fit. The public demand for their services and the eye-watering food bills that go with that, meant that there was an obvious value add for us to offer. By covering all the food needed for dogs at the Home and also providing food to sustain the pet food bank, we can free up much needed funds that can be allocated elsewhere.”
