B&Q volunteers breathe fresh life into Leo’s memorial garden
Leo himself was a cross Staffordshire bull terrier who spent many years in our care. He was one of our longest and most loved residents so it’s only right that his memory is honoured in such a special way.
Leo’s Garden needed a little love
Leo’s Garden should be a place of peace and reflection, but it was in desperate need of a little love and attention. And thanks to a team of fantastic volunteers from B&Q, it’s had the transformation it deserves!
A big thank you to Sam and the gang from B&Q
On 11th September a team of four volunteers arrived bright and early, tools in hand, ready to spruce up the garden.
And they did a better job than we could have even imagined!
By the time they left, the benches had been repainted, the weeds cleared, and rows of bright bushy plants lined the garden. They even erected a gorgeous pagoda gate to add to the garden’s serenity.
Volunteer, Sam, told us:
‘Everyone had a fabulous time and thank you very much for the visits from furry friends throughout the day!
B&Q used to do community days every year but unfortunately covid had put a stop to them much to the disappointment of everyone. The 2024 community day project has been the 2nd year we have been able to get back to doing them post pandemic. Taking part in the community days means a lot to us at B&Q, it’s a chance for us to give back and be part of something meaningful. For the company to support so many good causes and allow us to take the time to make a difference is an incredible opportunity.
I am glad we were able to make something beautiful for you and your supporters to enjoy, and I hope Leo would have liked it too!’
