100 years of cats at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home

It’s been 100 years since ‘The Edinburgh Home for Lost and Starving Dogs’ first opened our doors to cats!

In 1926 a new cattery was completed in our previous location on Broughton Road, and we became the ‘Edinburgh Home for Lost and Starving Dogs and Cats’.

The cattery cost £503 – which would be around £30k in today’s prices!

To celebrate, we’ve been digging through the archives to uncover fond memories from the past.

A lot has happened in the last 100 years, take a stroll with us down memory lane!
