The Home Launches It’s Virtual Dog and Cat Show For 2021
Do you have a happy hound or a carefree cat, the best co-worker or a golden oldie? After the success of last years event, Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home return with another virtual dog and cat show.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the ongoing uncertainty around holding in person events, the fundraising team have been looking at other ways to engage with the community and supporters of the Home, whilst raising vital funds for our cause.
On the back of last year’s success, the team are once again calling on dog and cat owners to enter their furry friends, and all are welcome, not just rescues. Winning categories will receive a certificate and be entered into a prize draw.
The Home’s Animal Champion ambassador, celebrity vet and animal welfare campaigner, Marc ‘the vet’ Abraham will once again judge via Facebook Live with winners being announced during on Wednesday 23 June.
Hannah Ryan, Community Fundraiser said:
“After the amazing response from the community last year, we’re looking forward to running our second ever Virtual Dog and Cat Show and cannot wait to see and show off your dogs and cats. Our dogs and cats have loved us unconditionally over the past year, lets show them how much we love them back whilst supporting a great cause”.
Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home has continued to care for and rehabilitate the stray, lost or abandoned dogs and cats brought to us during the pandemic. We also continue to support the local community through its pet food bank for owners who are finding it difficult to care for their pets.
Marc Abraham, Animal Champion ambassador said:
“Despite the coronavirus pandemic, animal welfare charities are continuing to do amazing work. Staff at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home continue to provide stray and abandoned animals with second chances by readying them for their forever homes. I am proud to be their Animal Champion and delighted to be returning for a second year to judge their virtual pet competition.”
All the funds raised from the virtual pet show will go directly towards the Home’s mission to rescue, reunite and rehome lost, stray and abandoned dogs and cats across Edinburgh and the Lothians, support struggling pet owners through its pet food bank and spread the message of responsible pet ownership through its education outreach programme.
Entries cost only £2 per category and can be made by visiting www.edch.org.uk/vdcs
