The Home Launches Spring Appeal ‘Spring to Their Senses’
This week sees the launch of our first ever Spring Fundraising Appeal ‘Spring To Their Senses’ where we are raising awareness about the importance of enrichment whilst raising vital funds for the dogs and cats here at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.
The appeals aims to show pet owners and animal lovers everywhere how they can get involved in enriching the lives of pets through sensory experiences. Sensory enrichment is one of many important ways to provide stimulation when means are limited. In the absence of new and interesting smells and experiences, dogs and cats can become depressed and frustrated which can bring on unwanted behaviours. All animals thrive when they have the freedom to explore the world around them, much like us humans.
We are all currently having to adapt our way of working and adjust our ‘routines’ and this is no different for our dedicated kennel and cattery team working on the front line caring for the dogs and cats.
Gillian Graham, Fundraising Manager said “This Spring we are urging everyone to get involved however they can – through creating a sensory garden or space in your home, sharing our online posts and news updates within your own community or by giving a donation – it all makes a difference. We know that this is difficult time for many and truly appreciate everything our wonderful supporters do for the animals and wouldn’t be able to do it without them.”
