Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home is the city’s oldest animal welfare charity, working with the Council and Police across Edinburgh and the Lothians. The Home receives no government or statutory funding, so relies on the generous support of volunteers and donors to carry out its vital work in rescuing, reuniting and rehoming Scotland’s stray and unwanted dogs and cats.
The Home’s operational activities are supported by volunteers who provide administrative services to the organisation, which are essential to continue caring for the hundreds of lost, stray and abandoned animals that come through our doors each year. Office volunteers help us with a variety of administrative tasks including:
In 2018, we launched our first Education Outreach Programme, which aims to promote responsible pet ownership and offer advice on caring for dogs and cats. We work closely with schools, businesses, clubs and local groups across Edinburgh and the Lothians to deliver our education programme and share our knowledge with the community. We have voluntary positions available within our Communications team to help deliver the Home’s newly established educational outreach programme to schools, groups, workplaces and organisations within Edinburgh and the Lothians.
This role will primarily consist of delivering short, interactive educational workshops, raising awareness of Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home and sharing various messages promoting responsible pet ownership.
