Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to charity. It is a scheme administered by HMRC which allows us to claim 25p for every £1 that you donate. So, for example, if you donate £20 we can claim an extra £5, making your gift worth £25. You simply need to have paid or will pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax that is at least equal to the tax that the Home and other charities you donate to will reclaim on your donations in a tax year.

You can also opt in to the retail Gift Aid scheme when you donate items to our Stockbridge charity shop. This lets us collect 25% more than the selling price of the item you donated. If you donate online, ticking the Gift Aid box is the same as completing a Gift Aid Declaration Form.
Gift Aid can be claimed on individual and sponsorship donations made to the Home. Gift Aid applies only to ‘gifts’. It does not apply to activities where an entry fee has been charged or where people have entered a competition. This also extends to activities where the donor can’t be traced (such as giving to collections).
To ensure we can claim the money back, it’s crucial that all the information asked for on the declaration is provided.
