Mercat Grill Helps the Home this Christmas
We would like to thank the Mercat Grill, near Musselburgh in East Lothian, for their continued support. This Christmas they have set up a foodbank collection point and they are hosting a special ‘Santa Paws’ event in aid of Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.
The bar and restaurant has set up a donation station asking for food for ‘people and pooches’ that will be split between East Lothian Foodbank and the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, respectively.
Graham Blaikie, owner of the Mercat Grill said: “Unfortunately, this time of year is not full of fun, festivities and food for everyone – with animals also experiencing a difficult time too. So, we’re really keen to play our part in helping local people as well as dogs and cats in crisis by creating our foodbank collection points. We would gratefully appreciate any donations you can spare, particularly tinned food and packets of dog and cat food. Let’s all do our bit to help our fellow locals, who really need it, particularly at this time of year.”
The Mercat Grill is also hosting a special dog friendly Christmas breakfast on Sunday 1st December to raise funds for the Home. Serving tea, coffee and egg or bacon rolls between 10am-11:30am and featuring a visit from Santa Paws. You’ll also be able to pick up a copy of their special 2020 calendar featuring many of the Mercat Grill’s regular canine clients, who were snapped by local professional photographer and videographer, Calum Duff of Front Edge Media, with all profits going to the Home.
Blaikie added: “This is now a regular festive fixture and promises to be a fun event, for dog owners and their canines, in the run up to Christmas. It’s a great opportunity to get together with other, Fido loving folks, make new friends or come along with the family to our fun and festive event which will also raise money for EDCH, a great charity that helps dogs and cats in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. We think our new canine calendar will also go down a treat with our dog owning customers!”
Tickets cost £10 per person & pooch. To book call 0800 124 4112 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
