As the winter bites, more unwanted and lost pets will need our help. This year, we are appealing to local businesses and the community to get involved by organising your own film night.
Get your colleagues, friends, family (and pets) together for some Christmas cheer – and help to raise vital funds for Edinburgh’s lost and unwanted dogs and cats.
Everyone loves a Christmas movie, so our Film Night or a Matinee, is a great way to kick off Christmas festivities with your colleagues, friends and family to celebrate the season of goodwill.
Before the film
Choose a date and venue – It doesn’t have to be at night – we’re all so busy at this time of year. Imagine a couple of hours off to recharge and watch a classic Christmas movie. Choose a room where you can easily seat the most people and organise a projector or large screen tv.
Pick a film – Here are some of our festive favourites: ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, ‘Elf’, ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’. Can’t decide? Ask your colleagues to vote for their favourite. You could even suggest a film themed fancy dress. It will all help create a buzz about your event!
Popcorn and treats – Why not ask your colleagues to make treats to sell – a bit like a cake bake – with the proceeds going towards the target for your event. We have a listed some film night snacks recipes, have a look for some inspiration – Film Night Snacks
Decide on a ticket value – You could even create a premium ticket area (or fancy beanbags) for VIP guests and remember all donations in lieu of tickets are for a very good cause.
Promotion – Tell people about your event! Put up our poster; send an email; post on your social media channels and intranet. Don’t forget good old-fashioned conversation and to send a reminder closer to the date.
If you can’t host your own film night, you can still get involved by attending a very special showing of It’s a Wonderful Life at the Cameo Cinema. What’s so special about about it, I hear you ask? Well, it’s DOG FRIENDLY. Tickets can be purchased from the link below.Cameo Cinema
