London Marathon 2021
London Marathon Charity Place
The Home is excited to announce that we have secured a charity place for the London Marathon taking place on the 3rd October 2021! We are looking for an active, self-motivated person to run for free on behalf of the Home. Could this be you?
About the Event
A marathon is the ultimate running challenge as well as a highly rewarding and memorable experience. 26.5 miles of running, jogging and walking your way through the streets of London, London Marathon is one of the most famous runs in the world. The race will take you past some well know places including Buckingham Palace, the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament just to name a few. The mass race is the largest marathon event in the United Kingdom and its third largest running event (after the Great North Run and Great Manchester Run).
Why Run for the Home?
Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home has been part of the fabric of our city since 1883, working in partnership with the Council and Police services by welcoming lost or abandoned pets from all corners of Edinburgh and the Lothians. We were founded by citizens whose love of animals motivated them to take action to alleviate the plight of strays roaming the streets of the city at that time. The Home costs £2.7 million to run per year and with the events of 2020, it’s important for us to raise much needed funds to make sure we will be here for another 134 years and beyond. Can you help? Apply to take part in the London Marathon now.
Terms and Conditions
Before you apply, it’s important to understand the terms and conditions. You can read them here. The Home will require the successful participant to sign a fundraising pledge of £2021 which can be found here.
