Calling All ‘Paw-fect’ Pets
Do you have the cosiest cat, the best dressed pooch or the perfect pair of pets? These are just some of the categories for our first ever virtual pet show!
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Home’s fundraising team aren’t able to hold our hugely popular fun dog and cat competitions at festivals and galas throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians this Spring and Summer.
Instead, the team have went digital and are calling on all dog and cat owners to enter their furry friends! All winning categories will receive a certificate and then be entered into a prize draw to win a personalised jigsaw of their pet!
The categories will be judged by the Home’s Animal Champion ambassador, celebrity vet and animal welfare campaigner, Marc ‘the vet’ Abraham with winners announced on 15 May 2020.
Lauren Walker, Community Fundraiser said:
“Our dog and cat competitions are always a huge hit at events and people just love to show off their pets! Every pet owner knows that theirs is the best, so what better opportunity to make people smile during this difficult time with cute animal photos and support a great cause at the same time?”
Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home has taken a huge financial hit due to the pandemic, but continues to support the local community through its pet food bank, as well as providing the best care and rehabilitation to the many dogs and cats who are still on site.
Marc Abraham, Animal Champion ambassador said:
“Animal welfare charities are continuing to do some amazing work, despite the coronavirus pandemic. Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home staff are on the front line making sure that stray and abandoned animals are so well cared for and ready for their forever homes when the doors re-open. I am proud to be their Animal Champion and delighted to have been asked to judge their virtual pet competition.”
All the funds raised from the virtual pet show will go directly towards the Home’s mission to rescue, reunite and rehome lost, stray and abandoned dogs and cats across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Entries cost only £2 per category and can be made by visiting www.edch.org.uk/virtualdogcatshow
