Boarding Terms & Conditions

Please read our Terms & Conditions of Boarding carefully before making your booking with us, to ensure that your cat or dog are eligible for a stay at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home and you have everything you need before your visit.

  1. We will not accept for boarding any animals who are under 6 months old.
  2. We will not accept for boarding any animals who suffer from Diabetes or Epilepsy.
  3. We will not accept for boarding any animals without proof of up to date vaccinations. A valid veterinary vaccination certificate must be brought showing the relevant UK standard vaccinations are up to date. There must be a two week period after the Initial primary vaccination course or restart of vaccinations to allow for adequate immunity before entry to the kennels, this does not apply to an annual booster. If you are unsure in anyway what vaccinations this would be please see your UK vet for confirmation and support.
  4. We will not accept for boarding any un-neutered male cats over the age of 6 months.
  5. All dogs and cats must have been recently wormed, as advised by your vet.
  6. We reserve the right to refuse boarding to Dogs over the age of 14 and Cats over the age of 16.
  7. In order to enable us to provide the best care possible for your pet you must disclose all medical conditions, recent medical procedures, and any medications taken by your dog or cat in the last 3 months. Failure to do so may result in a delay in care or refusal of boarding.
  8. We will not administer any medication which has not been prescribed by a vet and handed into our staff in original packaging with original label from the vet. Medications can only be administered between the hours of 8am-4pm.
  9. In the event of cancellation of your booking, normal charges will still be payable during busy periods if we are not given more than 7 days’ notice of the cancellation and we are unable to re-book the space.
  10. In the rare event of your pet becoming ill while with us, we will attempt to contact yourself/emergency contact to advise you of the problem and obtain permission for any veterinary procedures which may need to be carried out. If we are unable to contact you we will leave the treatment decision in the hands of the Veterinarian. We will, within reasonable distance, always endeavour to use your own veterinary practice or emergency service. If this is not possible, we will use one of our own Vet Partner surgeries.
  11. In the rare event an animal does need to be seen by a vet while in our care, the owner will be liable for the cost of any veterinary treatment provided.
  12. We reserve the right to re-home any animal not collected within seven days of the due departure date if the owner has failed to contact us and all reasonable efforts to contact them have failed.
  13. Monitoring and feeding times are dictated by our opening hours. Feeds and wellbeing monitoring will only be carried out between the hours of 08:00 and 16:30. There is no flexibility within this and kennels are not monitored between the hours of 16:30 and 08:00.
  14. The total cost of boarding is payable on arrival. There will be no charge on the day of departure if you collect your pet before noon. You are still welcome to collect after noon but you will be charged for that day’s boarding. Drop off will remain as anytime between 9am and 4pm, ensuring maximum flexibility.
