Appeal For Support For Jock’s Vital Surgery
Meet Jock. He’s a lovable, three-year-old super friendly Jack Russell/Collie cross. But Jock has a problem. He has a large mass on his neck that requires major surgery. He was diagnosed with Sialocele, caused by a damaged gland, which would have resulted from a trauma or infection.
His operation requires complex specialist surgery that will cost around £4,500, which includes significant aftercare. We would never ask a new owner to take on a dog with such a complicated, expensive health issue. Which is why we’re reaching out to supporters and animal lovers for help.
This is the first time we’ve ever run a crowdfunder but this is a special case.
Lindsay Fyffe-Jardine, Deputy to the CEO and Director of Operations at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, said:
“Jock is a really special dog who is excited about everything and everyone he meets. He’s the kind of character that really lifts your day and he loves to spoil us with cuddles and kisses. Luckily Jock doesn’t seem to be in any pain right now, but we are worried about how his health will progress if we don’t tackle this quickly. He deserves a second chance for a loving home and we can only give him that if he gets the surgery he needs.
“In the absence of any government or statutory funding, Jock’s surgery is a huge one-off expense for us, which has a big impact on our work. We are appealing to our generous supporters to give whatever they can and help us cover this cost.”
Any additional funds raised as part of the crowdfunding appeal will go towards the many cats and dogs in Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home’s care.
