Andrew to Run 137 Miles in Five Days for Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home
It never fails to amaze us the effort some supporters go to for Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. Andrew Wright is going to attempt to run 137 miles between December 20 – 24. He has chosen to run a mile for each year the Home has been open for the stray and unwanted dogs and cats of Edinburgh and the Lothians.
“We rehomed our dog Cole from Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home in April of last year and witnessed first-hand how important their work is.” explains Andrew. “I thought it would be a great idea to take on a challenge to raise some much-needed funds at a time when they need it most. I ran the Edinburgh Marathon last year, but this is an entirely new challenge; and I’m looking forward to it.”
For Andrew choosing to support the Home was easy. “We adopted our dog Cole from Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home last April. He was a stray that arrived nervous and in need of some love and care, the team worked wonders and it wasn’t long before we were able to welcome him to our family. He is an amazing dog and we’ll always be grateful that we were able to give him a second chance. Without the Home, there’s no saying what could have happened to Cole.”
The boost Andrew has received from the support so far has given him confidence to conquer a challenge while raising money for a much-loved charity. “People have been so generous, and I’ve managed to raise a brilliant amount already. I know the challenge ahead is going to be difficult, but the support so far has giving me all the encouragement I need. The Home is facing a tough time ahead, and I’m happy to be able to give something back.”
