Agria turns pedal power into pounds for Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home
Agria Pet Insurance was delighted to present a cheque to Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home recently thanks to some pedal-powered fundraising!
The charity was nominated by Agria to support on their annual team cycling event, the Extra Mile Challenge. And what a challenge it was, with over 500 miles of the French countryside to cover in just three days. Two teams from Agria took part – one male, one female – in the event back in September.
Such a tough challenge attracted a whole host of sponsors; motivating the teams and resulting in a fantastic £1,343.75 being raised for Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. The charity, Edinburgh’s oldest animal welfare organisation, takes in over a thousand stray and unwanted pets each year, looking after them in modern, purpose-built accommodation and giving them enormous amounts of love, care and attention until a new home can be found for them.
Howard Bridges, Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home’s Chief Executive (www.edch.org.uk), said, “Our first experience of Crufts ended on a high as we received a wonderful donation from our friends at Agria Pet Insurance from their tough cycle challenge! Every penny will go towards helping dogs and cats receive the care they deserve and find a forever home, and we are extremely grateful.”
Leader of the girls’ team and Agria’s Partnerships Manager, Lorraine Tannatt Nash, said, “The Extra Mile Challenge is a really tough event, so supporting Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home helped enormously. We were incredibly proud to present the money we’d raised to them and be able to play a small part in the important and compassionate work they do with so many animals each year.”
Agria’s cycling teams are currently in training for the first event of 2016, the Mont Ventoux challenge. Find out more at http://www.agriapet.co.uk/medianews/
