The Ultimate Dog and Cat Event Returns to Edinburgh
Edinburgh’s pet lovers are set for a treat this September as the city’s leading animal welfare charity opens its doors to the public.
On Sunday 1 September, Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home will host ‘Paws by the Prom’ open day at their Seafield rehoming centre, offering a unique insight into the day-to-day running of the animal rescue centre, as well as stalls, games and entertainment.
Pet-mad visitors will be well catered for with free rehoming and veterinary advice, grooming, dog and cat competitions, and kennel and cattery tours.
MC for the day will be Forth One presenter Micky Gavin, who currently serves as an ambassador for Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, in his role as Animal Champion.
Gillian Graham, Fundraising Manager at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, said:
“Paws by the Prom is an incredibly special event for the Home, as it’s a chance for us to welcome thousands of our much-valued supporters to see the work we’re doing 365 days a year to rescue, reunite and rehome Edinburgh’s stray and unwanted pets. In previous years we have nearly had more dogs visiting than humans, but it’s a lovely chance for us to catch up with the ones we have rehomed, and meet some new faces!
When it comes to dog and cat fanatics, we have something for everyone – bring a photo of your cat for our cat competition, have your dog groomed, or simply relax and enjoy the dog agility and cani-cross demonstrations. Funds raised on the day will go towards the care of the hundreds of dogs and cats that reach our doors in need each year.”
Paws by the Prom is free to enter and expected to attract thousands of visitors from Edinburgh and the Lothians, in addition to hundreds of well-behaved dogs on leads.
